Sketchup to blender11/1/2023 ![]() With the cube in edit mode, look at the status bar at the bottom of the window and you’ll notice metrics for the current object (see close up image). Blender will always group geometry to objects. To speed it up, go to “view” > “edge style” and deselect “edges” and “profiles.” You also want to make sure you turn shadows off by going to “view” and deselecting “shadows.” Under the “styles” tab in the default tray, make sure you select a rendering style that has a small stopwatch in the corner because these indicate faster rendering styles. SketchUp allows you to create loose geometry which isn’t in any group or component but is simply part of the scene. ![]() Moving around your Sketchup model may be really slow. In Blender go to file-> import and use the Collada importer. Choose the Collada format and save your document, there are no options. You can experiment with the export options to see if you get a better result, but most of the time you might just have to resort to doing a small amount of cleaning up! In Sketchup Make 2017 we can also export Collada documents that we can subsequently import into Blender. Once you import your model from blender to Sketchup, you may notice some areas that need some work.
